Glacial Errata, No. 66

Five Things for the Week of April 13, 2026.

One: Peziza Tuberosa

All of the images this week are from Illustrations of British Mycology (two volumes, published 1847-1855) written by Anna Maria Hussey, and illustrated by Hussey and her sister, Frances Reed. You can peruse the rest of the book here; it’s delightful.

Two: Agaricus Sublanatus

Three: Boleta Luridus

Four: Phlebia Merismoides

Anna Maria Hussey

Five: Agaricus Fusipes

I should say that I’m thinking about mushrooms this week because I’ve been reading Maria Pinto’s Fearless, Sleepless, Deathless: What Fungi Taught Me About Nourishment, Poison, Ecology, Hidden Histories, Zombies, and Black Survival. I cannot tell you how much I’ve been loving this book; I heard her read excerpts from it a week ago and immediately bought it. You should buy it too. You’ll love it. More about the book here.
